Testimonials
“We worked with Lifespans to test the press-fit insertion behaviour of nearly 30 candidate designs of our tibial tray device. By quickly and accurately identifying the design candidate that firmly inserted with the least trauma to the surrounding bone tissue, the innovative particle-based bone damage modeling capabilities of Alfonso™ were able to help us produce a safer and more effective device for patients worldwide. In addition, using Alfonso™ saved our team months of development time and tens of thousands of pounds of expenditure on physical prototyping and testing.”

“Lifespans has done significant work for several of the companies that I run or advise on R&D projects. These projects ranged from validating new spinal and trauma implant designs through to modelling of novel cement/adhesive biomaterials. Their "Alfonso" system, with its unique material damage modelling capabilities, has given our project teams valuable insights into designs. This has minimised the need for design iterations saving both on time and overall costs.”

Profile
“Using Alfonso™ we were able to accurately compare and rank the performance of numerous candidate spinal and femoral hip devices in both simulated bone foam and simulated cadaveric bone tissue. In particular, the Lifespans team was able to offer innovative damage accumulation material models to simulate dynamic failure of devices over many thousands of cycles. This capability – which we were unable to find in other simulation technologies in the marketplace – allowed our team to rapidly determine which designs offer improved efficacy in the fixation of fractures. The benefits of this collaboration will reach patients as our devices pass through regulatory approval and enter the market in the near future. We look forward to working with the Lifespans team again in the future.”
